The Outlets of Des Moines offer a great shopping experience. I can't put my finger on it, but something about this location made me think of Downtown Disney / Disney Springs in Orlando, too. I gave a four-star rating because there are still a lot of empty stores. However, when these stores are at full capacity, I really think this is going to be a great weekend destination mall (especially with Adventureland right down the street).
My sister and I went last Saturday. My favorite was the Under Armour Store. 40% off store wide. I purchased a lot there. Also had a lot of great deals at VF and Vera Bradley. Yes, it needs other stores to open and it is cold with the wind blowing through it but overall I had a great experience.
They're quaint, and clean, and very well lit. A little smaller than I'm used to, but that adds to the charm. I think having more than just one security guard, though, would make it perfect. No one can be in two places at once., and i feel at least 2 guards would be appropriate.
I am very impressed with this place . I just wished it wasn't so windy the day I went there. The outside walk ways turned into wind tunnels, on the bright side the stores are always warm and the staff of every place I visited friendly. I recommend taking a trip out to experience this place. Make sure and enjoy the outdoor fire.
Good place to visit if its not winter time. Walking from store to store outside when it is winter doesn't make for a pleasant experience. Makes more sense to have this open style mall somewhere warmer. Plan your trip accordingly! Also a lot of empty store fronts. Might be worth going back to when all the stores are open.
